Santa Croce | Florence Courtyard Painting

Original acrylic painting on paper, 22" x 30", 2026

This Florence courtyard painting captures the warmth and quiet of a September afternoon at Santa Croce. Tall, deep-green trees rise beside a sequence of arches, while ochre walls and rose-colored rooftops frame the courtyard beneath an expansive blue sky.

Expressive brushwork brings texture to the architecture and foliage. Pale peach pathways cross vivid green grass, with angular shadows lending depth and rhythm to the foreground. A substantial stone column at the right draws the viewer into the scene, creating the feeling of looking outward from a sheltered passage.

The painting preserves a personal encounter with Florence through sunlight, color, and the contemplative atmosphere of its historic architecture.
